Why choose Artificial Insemination
In choosing the AI process it is possible to keep the mare in her own familiar environment without the stress of travelling and disturbance of unfamiliar surroundings, people and horses. For mare owners this is particularly important if she has a new precious foal at foot as the risks of trauma and injury of natural covering is removed. The new foal will not be exposed to an unknown group of mares carrying varying degrees of anti bodies to disease.
Again by using AI it is possible to choose Danilon, who is standing at stud in Cornwall, without the expense, time, and wear and tear on the vehicle of travelling the long distance to the West Country.
Once you have decided
Please book! A nomination form is available with Danilon’s stud booklet or we can e-mail one to you. This will allow us to make the appropriate arrangements to collect Danilon’s sperm for insertion which will be evaluated as suitable before dispatch. You will also need to source a qualified agent to insert the semen and attest to the covering - Mel Hennah will be collecting the semen - www.trenerthequestrian.com. She will normally be on hand, as a qualified technician, to complete the insemination at local venues or attend to the dispatch. In all cases you, the mare owner, will pay the additional cost of the transportation of the semen and the insemination. The semen will be dispatched in a special container in accordance with our terms and conditions (see link) and is normally viable for 72 hours but care should be taken to avoid ordering a delivery for Sunday, Monday or over a Bank holiday period.
