danilon

Danilon, a classic example of the modern pura raza española stallion will be standing at Ednovean farm, Perranuthnoe, Nr Penzance Cornwall, at stud for his first season, in 2007.

Danilon is 16.1 h.h and is 6 years old.

This potent breed, formally known as the Andalucian, has contributed to breeds as diverse as the Thoroughbred to the Welsh Cob, the Lipizzaner to the Cleveland Bay, with blood lines preserved and honed through history.
Danilon was imported from Yeguada Susaeta in Madrid in 2005, bred by Maria Jose Ruiz Fernandez, whose aim it is to produce a modern dressage horse. Danilon’s sire, the advanced dressage horse Official XXIX, stands an impressive 17.0hh and is a Grandson of Albero II. Official, noted for his spectacular movement, is inscribed in the “Who’s Who of the Andalusian Horse” bequeathing Danilon an impressive pedigree added to his dam line which incorporates the sought after Yeguada Militar dynasty. Both parents carry the Terry bloodline, incorporating the pure Carthusian horse, guarded so jealously by the monks in the Mountains at the time of the Moorish invasion.

The Spanish horse, unparallel in the riding schools of Europe with his ability to Piaffe, Passage and perform the Airs above the ground, has again found success in modern times when the Spanish Dressage team won an Olympic  Bronze medal (with only one member of the team riding a warm blood).

Danilon has that special quality of character, the bold eye, strength and courage combined with a sweet gentle nature that typifies the Pre Horse. His rhythmic, expressive paces powered by an actively engaged hind quarter should stamp his stock with ability for self carriage, and aptitude for training, sometimes lacking in the modern competition horse. He will combine superbly with the Thoroughbred and Arab and bring good uphill confirmation to a variety of crosses to produce a light enjoyable horse, willing to travel the extra mile, in a light expressive way, as a companion and friend.
